Is the Mythic Goldfish Still Catchable in Season 6?

Fortnite announced that this week, from Thursday, May 13th until May 20th is the Fish Fiesta. This is cool, especially for players that haven’t yet completed their fishing collection. But to me, since I’ve already completed mine, I desperately want to know if it gives a higher chance of catching the Mythic Goldfish. The Mythic Goldfish was first added to the game during Chapter 2 Season 1, back when the only other fish were Floppers, Slurpfish, Shield Fish and Small Fry fish. It is exceedingly rare, however, having a supposed spawn rate of 1-in-a-million.

But, with the Fish Fiesta, Fortnite made several adjustments that may improve those odds, though they didn’t specifically mention the Mythic Goldfish. What they changed, though, was to increase the number of fishing spots, increase how many times each spot can be fished, and the spots will “harbor rare fish more often.” That’s not very insightful, and we don’t know if the Mythic Goldfish actually counts as a fish, or, perhaps more likely, it counts as a weapon. The reason it likely counts as a weapon is that it’s not in the fishing collection, and when you throw it, it deals damage.

So, I went scouring Twitter and the web trying to determine if there’s anything that would conclusively help us know if the Mythic Goldfish is even still active in the game. I tried tweeting out to HYPEX and iFireMonkey, but they didn’t reply. I also saw several other people asking about it, but nobody had a credible answer. BUT THEN, I found what appears to be VERY CREDIBLE evidence that it is still in the game.

While searching YouTube, I came across someone that had streamed their gameplay earlier today, and while they didn’t catch the Mythic Goldfish themselves, they eliminated someone that had it. They picked it up and proceeded to eliminate a chicken with it, and then a few players, including the last player of the match. Since he streamed it, I was able to go to the part of the video where they queued in, so we know it was a regular squads match, and you can tell from the gameplay that it is indeed the current season. I also watched the elimination feed and watched his eliminations. Nothing seems suspect about it, so I am happy to conclude that while I don’t know if the chances of getting it are improved this week, at least we have confirmation that it’s still in the game!
